Ice Tech UK worked closely with the client team throughout the project, providing specialist ice rink design and build expertise from the initial planning stages through to completion. Construction began in November 2017. Although the discovery of unexploded World War II ordnance created unexpected delays, the team successfully delivered the project, and the arena opened to the public in August 2019.
Today, the facility is recognised as one of the UK’s most energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable ice rinks. It combines innovative design with high-performance ice rink technology to reduce operating costs while maintaining exceptional ice quality. As a result, the project delivered a modern ice sports venue for both the local community and the university. It continues to provide reliable performance, efficient operation, and an outstanding skating experience for visitors throughout the year.
